SET Power Quality Solutions

SET-UPQC 380V Unified Power Quality Conditioner

The SET 380V UPQC is a fast, series-connected voltage-quality solution for distribution networks affected by persistent overvoltage, undervoltage, voltage fluctuation, sag, swell and supply-voltage unbalance. It regulates the load-side supply in real time, helping utilities and industrial users maintain stable voltage without large-scale feeder reconstruction.

Why SET-UPQC

Why a 380V UPQC is effective on weak distribution networks

Long rural feeders, terminal grids, industrial parks and renewable-energy connections can experience large and rapid voltage changes. Transformer expansion, new cable installation or feeder reconstruction may require significant time and investment. SET-UPQC uses modular power-electronic regulation and series compensation to provide a deployable alternative for targeted voltage-quality improvement.

  • Corrects frequent high and low voltage
  • Mitigates voltage fluctuation, sag and swell
  • Supports voltage-unbalance improvement
  • High regulation precision with fast response
  • Local and remote operating-data monitoring
  • Electronic bypass for supply continuity
Application note
The supplied technical documents define this SET-UPQC series primarily as a voltage-quality regulation system. Harmonic filtering ranges or wide reactive-power compensation values that appeared on older pages are not stated in the current documents and have therefore not been carried over.

System Architecture

Four coordinated functional modules

The SET 380V UPQC combines power conversion, transformer compensation, system monitoring and bus switching in one coordinated platform. The power-routing and transformer-compensation modules work together to adjust the load-side voltage continuously, while the monitoring and bypass functions support safe operation and maintenance.

1. Active Power RoutingEnergy conversion, data acquisition, digital control, gate driving and protection.
2. Transformer CompensationSeries voltage injection to raise or lower the load-side supply as required.
3. Monitoring TerminalLocal/remote visibility of grid, load, module and event information.
4. Bus & Bypass SwitchingCoordinated switching and an electronic bypass for fast transfer.

Applications

Designed for unstable and weak distribution networks

01

Rural and long-distance feeders

Improves voltage at remote load points where long supply radius, small conductor size or seasonal demand causes repeated undervoltage.

02

Industrial parks and terminal grids

Stabilizes supply to concentrated production loads when upstream voltage varies or feeder impedance is high.

03

Distributed photovoltaic systems

Helps manage high-voltage conditions caused by reverse power flow and rapid changes in local PV generation.

04

Wind and renewable-energy connections

Supports load-side voltage quality in networks affected by variable generation and changing operating conditions.

Engineering & Installation

Information required for a reliable proposal

  • Single-line diagram and 3-phase/4-wire arrangement
  • Measured minimum, maximum and typical voltage
  • Load current, peak demand and load profile
  • Required installation point and feeder distance
  • Indoor/outdoor environment, temperature and altitude
  • Need for local or remote monitoring integration

Installation, wiring, bypass operation and commissioning must be performed by qualified electrical personnel. Capacity and cable selection should be verified against the actual load current, voltage deviation and site conditions.

FAQ

Common questions

Is SET-UPQC only for low voltage?

This product family is specified for 380 Vac low-voltage distribution systems. Contact SET for projects with other nominal voltages.

How quickly does it react?

The specified dynamic response is no more than 1 ms, with electronic bypass transfer below 100 μs.
